Tour description

The 'Supreme Dubrovnik Tour' is specially designed for those travellers with more time on their disposal in order to experience the best of what Dubrovnik has to offer - a rich cocktail of history, art and magnificent medieval architecture.

This tour will enable you to find out how a small self-governing commune of Dubrovnik skillfully used its position at the intersection of the Balkans and Mediterranean basin to emerge as one of the Europe's leading commercial powers in the 15th and 16th century. You will also learn how did this merchant Christian republic manage to preserve its neutral status, statehood and reach unprecedented prosperity in the midst of Ottoman conquests.

In order to illustrate how influential and powerful Dubrovnik Republic had been, the tour will, apart from the walking tour around the Old Town of Dubrovnik, include the visit (as well as the tickets) to the best known feature of this UNESCO world heritage site – the famous City Walls of Dubrovnik.

As we move around and explore 2-kilometer-long defensive system of medieval Dubrovnik fortifications you will have a chance to enjoy impressive panoramic views of the city as well as to hear stories how the walls were constructed and constantly adapted to resist the new and more modern techniques of warfare.

However, it is also important to mention that there are several alternatives to this tour. Walking the walls usually lasts a couple of hours and requires a certain ‘effort’ therefore you may opt to only cover half of the walls, spending the remainder of the tour exploring the city.

Alternatively you may switch the ‘wall walk’ for a visit to two of Dubrovnik’s finest museums: the Franciscan Monastery’s ancient pharmacy museum and the Dominican Monastery’s collection of 15th and 16th century art works. Another possibility can take you to one of the oldest Sephardic synagogues in Europe which houses the museum containing the precious artefacts that the members of small, but prominent, Dubrovnik Jewish community transferred from Spain while fleeing from the Spanish inquisition in 1492.

PLEASE NOTE: The tour price of USD 168 is valid for group of 8 persons. There is an additional fee of USD 20 per person if there are more than 8 persons in the group.

Entrance tickets are not included in the price and would need to be paid upon location in case you wish to enter any of them.

Car/van transfer to the Old Town is also available at additional charge.
