Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

our representative will be waiting for you at Cairo Airport to meet and assist you through air port formalities , You will be transferred to your selected hotel for a free evening. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 2: (Cairo – Farma (Pelusium)

Today after an early breakfast we depart Cairo by A/C van towards Farma, an ancient Egyptian city. It lies about 20 miles southeast of Port Said in Sinai Peninsula. One of the first resting places of the Holy Family, the city has long been destroyed; however, today it is an active archeological dig with a first century church being restored. Pelusium is also famous as the spot that Pompey was hanged and during crusades King Baldwin died of ptomaine poisoning. It is rarely, if ever, visited by tourists. From Pelusium you will follow the trek of the Holy Family to Tel Basta (or Basta). Here, Jesus caused a water spring to well up from the ground, and His presence caused idols to crumble, as foretold by the prophets of old. You will visit the site of Belbeis (ancient Philippos) where they rested in the shade of a tree which came to be called "The Virgin Mary's Tree". Return to Cairo and overnight in your hotel.

Day 3 (Cairo - Sakha - Wadi el Natroun )

After Breakfast you will drive toward Sakha Town, the Coptic name of the town, 'Pekha-Issous', (means 'the foot of Jesus'); for the Holy Child's foot-print was marked, here, in bas-relief on a rock. The rock was preserved, but hidden for centuries for fear of robbery, and only unearthed again 13 years ago. The natural course of the Holy Family's journey from Samannoud to Sakha would have taken through many of the towns and their trail from Sakha, is recorded in the documentation of Pope Theophilus' vision. Return to Cairo for overnight in your hotel.

Day 4 (Cairo - Matariyah - Ain Shams )

As the Holy Family did, you will leave the desert behind and make your way southwards, crossing for Matariyah and Ain Shams (ancient Heliopolis, the site of the oldest 'Temple-university' in history called since earliest Pharaonic times, 'Oan'). The Holy Family rested for a while in Zeitoun (the word means Olives), on their way; you will proceeded along a crowded, bustling quarters of Cairo, within which the serene landmarks of an earlier Coptic heritage still stand, marking the paths the Holy Family followed. Overnight in Cairo hotel. (B)

Day 5 (Cairo - Minya )

Today you will leave Cairo by A/C van, drive south to Minya and Upper Egypt. Affter their short stay in Old Cairo, the Holy Family moved in a southerly direction, reaching the modern Cairo suburb of Maadi which, in earliest pharaonic times, was an outlying district of Memphis, the capital of Egypt then. At Maadi, they boarded a sailing boat which carried them up the Nile towards southern Egypt. While the Holy Family traveled by sailboat we will use A/C van to follow their route. When they resumed their travels, the Holy Family passed a laurel tree (they call the tree, Al Abed - 'The Worshipper') a stone's throw south of Gabal El-Tair, along the pathway flanking the Nile and leading from the Mountain to Nazlet Ebeid and the New Minya Bridge of today. Overnight in Minya hotel. (D,B)

Day 6 (Minya – Dairout - Al Sharif - Qussqam )

Once more crossing the Nile, back to West Bank, the Holy Family traveled southwards to the town of Al-Ashmounein or Hermopolis Magna but it seems that they did not stay there for long. Leaving behind them the rubble of fallen idols, they continued south, for another 12 miles to Dairout Al-Sharif (which, like Al-Ashmounein, had an alternative Greek name Philes); and then to Qussqam (or Qost-Qoussia). Overnight in Minya. (D,B)

Day 7 (Minya - Cairo )
Today we return to Cairo and overnight at your Cairo hotel.(B)

Day 8 (Cairo – The Great Pyramid at Giza )
It was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years. Our expert guide will accompany you to the Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza, and then to Saqqara to witness the first pyramid of them all, the 2648 BC-completed Step Pyramid of Djoser. Overnight at your Cairo hotel. (B)

Day 9 (Cairo – Cave Church – Coptic Cairo)

After breakfast we firstly visit the Cave Church at Mokattam. Another hidden gem of Cairo is the "cave churches" cut into the Muqattam Hills limestone. In the afternoon we visit Coptic Cairo and the Hanging Church and walk down the road to Saint Sergius Church where Christ and the family walked and hid from Herod in the Crypt. We visit St. George's Monastery where St. George was chained. Visit the Coptic Museum. Overnight in Cairo hotel.(B)

Day 10: good bye Egypt

we will transfer you to the Airport for your departure flight
