Dear Guests,

Welcome to your Turkey experience and allow me to introduce myself. I was born in Fethiye, the heart of Turkish Riviera, located in southwest of Turkey. Fethiye is a very popular holiday destination for many reasons such as its natural beauty, turquoise Mediterranean, sandy beaches, small islands, secluded bays, hidden coves and inlets not to mention the heavenly blue lagoon. It also boasts a colorful nomadic culture and rich history with 23 Lycian ancient cities, 3 of them listed in Unesco World Heritage (Xanthos-Letoon-Patara).

After graduating from Fethiye Anatolian Tourism and Vocational High School I went on to complete in Travel Agency Management and Professional Tour Guiding at Adnan Menderes University. Adnan Menderes University has the oldest and the most influencential Tourism and Hospitality Department in Turkey.

Whilst at university in part due to my love of sailing I also worked for a large yachting company as a general manager assistant. I have worked Manhattan/New York City with a Work and Travel exchange program. I worked as a tour guide in Central Park, 5th Ave, Park Ave, Times SQ, Broadway, Downtown, Midtown and Uptown. After university I also worked for Radisson Long Island and Embassy Suites by Hilton at ex. World Trade Center (Ground Zero) with Internship Career Program.

I started my active guiding experience after completing mandatory military service. I have 5 years guiding experience all around amazing Turkey. At the same time I have 15 years Tourism experience in Turkey in every level and field.

I started my early guiding career in Turkish Riviera. After much experience in western Turkey, I moved to Central Anatolia (Cappadocia) the cultural heart of Turkey. I gained much experience in this unique amazing part of Turkey. Goreme Open Air Museum is a highlight of Turkey along with underground cities, fairy chimneys, incredible rock formations, colorful valleys...

After the Cappadocia experience, I started to run 1 week / 2 weeks / 3 weeks tours all around Turkey with well known tour operators.

I also have experience in the Black sea, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia areas.

If you have any question, Please don’t hesitate to ask me!!! I look forward to meeting with you. See you soon at the cradle of civilization, one minute you may be in Europe and the next in Asia!

To Whom It May Concern:

I write this letter in enthusiastic endorsement of Mutlu Deveci’s skills as a professional guide and tour operator. I had the pleasure of traveling through Turkey for two weeks with Mutlu in August 2010. This was my first trip to Turkey, and—largely thanks to Mutlu’s expert guidance—I eagerly look forward to my next visit to that fascinating country.

Right from the start, Mutlu shone for his profound knowledge of Turkish history, culture, and politics, no less for his formidable energy and organizational abilities. We were a diverse group ranging widely in age, profession, and interest, and Mutlu masterfully made us all feel immediately at home in Turkey. He was absolutely professional throughout, as well as unfailingly kind, friendly, patient, and generous with his time and expertise. Whether organizing an array of afternoon expeditions in light of our group’s wide variety of interests, guiding us through the stunning scenery of Cappadocia or Ephesus, thrashing us at backgammon or complex Turkish card games, or welcoming us all into his family summer home, Mutlu quickly became friend as well as guide.

I have traveled widely throughout the world, and Turkey immediately struck me as a place where the short-term, first-time visitor might easily encounter any range of difficulties. Mutlu went out of his way to ensure that we were treated fairly by everyone. If there were any problems with transportation, lodging, or other arrangements, we certainly never learned of them. We were simply free to enjoy thoroughly each and every day, greatly enhanced by Mutlu’s guidance and expertise.

Mutlu Deveci is, in short, an excellent guide and tour operator, and I recommend him to you with enthusiasm.

Sincerely,

Professor of South Asian Religions, Anne E. Monius / Harvard University
