October 18, 2010: Answering your questions

Good day, dear Private Guides!

During the last two weeks, I have received many questions from you regarding the general functioning of our system, booking and payment procedures, penalties, etc.  I thought it might be helpful to answer some of the more frequently asked questions here.

1.    Do we have a contract or an agreement between us?

I would like to draw your attention to our “Terms of Use” one more time.  It is not just a useless part of the text that you have to check as acknowledged (which I personally do each time I register on any new website). These ‘Terms’ represent a complete agreement between Private Guides, Tourists and PrivateGuide.com. To put it differently - this is our Contract, and in accordance with its provisions,we are working together and fulfilling our networking services. Plus, you should review the Privacy Policy section, as there you will find some more practical issues not covered under ‘Terms’.

2.    How is the booking process carried out, and who makes the booking?

I need to emphasize here that PrivateGuide.com does not fulfill any bookings and does not intervene in any way with your contacts with the Travelers. The Tourist makes the booking himself! However, there are several ways this can occur.

Basically, the Tourist should first contact the Guide, asking any questions that he might have. Only after you have agreed on everything, does he make a reservation through the system. Another possibility is that the Tourist can book your services without any previous contact. He may like your page or your tours, and the date he wants is available on your calendar. Anyway, YOU are the last link! You can accept the reservation or decline it.

Only after you accept, is an automatic e-mail confirmation with all of the details sent to the Tourist. The confirmation is, in essence, your invoice, which contains the cost of the tour, the amount already paid (10%-fee),and the remainder due to the Guide (that means – to you) at the time of the tour. So ‘invoicing’ also goes out automatically.

This Confirmation is the main paper for you and for the Tourist. It also contains detailed information on the meeting point, the day, the time, and your contact details(including phone number and e-mail). By the way, the meeting point could be arranged during your discussions with the tourist, or you could set standard ones adding them to your tour description.

3.    I am registered.  What next?

Next, you have to add your unique tours to make your page more attractive and to receive additional ratings, and then you just wait for the first tourist to contact you! As we already told you, we will start the massive promo campaign in November, and logically, you will see the results following it. At the moment, there are already visitors to our site, but the numbers will increase even more after the concrete PR actions. I am almost begging you for your patience, as we just need a little more time.  Nothing happens by chance, so we’ll work for the results!

4.    A bit more about our rating system…

There are two different ways to get rating points. The first one is to add tours, post photos, videos, and inform us about the books you have written. All of this is carefully collected and indicated in your rating points. You could become a leader even without having a tourist’s review! Also each time you are ‘added to favorites’ or receive votes for your tours or profile – you will receive some points as well. The second one is a tourist’s review. It consists of five issues:communication skills, professional skills, entertainment, safety/organization and overall impression. Each time you have a tour, you will be reviewed by the Tourist. As you can see, there are number of ways to succeed! Just use it!

Cheers,

Tora and the Team
